Our Client came to us earlier this year with a brief to upgrade their existing Music Room ceiling and lighting solution. We were informed that the room was used daily with up to 20 -40 children at a time, evenings by private functions and recreation classes like Pilates – and of course the all-important Committee Meetings. We therefore had to devise a suspended ceiling design and lighting solution that would perform under a number of room uses.
We firstly recommended a new acoustic suspended ceiling installation which over the past 3 years we had already fitted to a number of classrooms at the school. This was a tried and tested solution in classrooms with sound transfer and poor lighting. We therefore knew it would work in the Music Room to firstly help reduce noise reverberation within this area – thus improve the overall room acoustics, of course improve the aesthetics look and also importantly to hide the wiring for a proposed lighting installation.
We then partnered with our lighting experts to come up with an LED lighting solution which would not only satisfy our clients personal requirements but would also cater for all other room users. Our lighting specialist met with ourselves and the client to discuss the options available. We came up with an LED spotlight solution, which not only utilised standard daylight low energy LED dimmable technology, but the incorporation of an outer ring of changeable colour low energy LED lighting, all colour changeable from a wall controller with a range of colours that can be selected. This therefore meant we had also met the lighting requirements for normal day to day use, but also introduced changing colour LED lighting technology for the evening usages. This has created mood lighting and each colour selected ultimately changes the ambiance and feel of the room.
